Salary: £26,000 to £28,000 pro rata (depending on experience)
Hours: 28 hours per week, with flexibility for evening and weekend activities by agreement
Location: Hybrid; predominantly based in our central Horsham office with home-based flexibility.
Tenure: Initially 6 months, with the opportunity to extend

Following John Milne MP’s historic 2024 General Election win, Horsham Liberal Democrats and John Milne MP are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated, and outgoing Campaigns, Volunteer and Support Officer. This is a key role for someone who can build strong relationships, inspire new volunteers, and maintain our campaign momentum as we look toward future elections. You will also have the opportunity to support engaging with constituents in the Office of John Milne MP for half a day per week.
We are looking for a people person who is as comfortable leading a team of canvassers on the doorstep as they are organising a local event. If you are highly motivated, energetic, and ready to get stuck in, we would love to hear from you.

Job Description - Key Responsibilities:
Campaigns & Volunteer Officer – Horsham Liberal Democrats 24 hrs per week
- Inspiring People: Recruit and manage a growing team of volunteers, ensuring they are well-supported and placed in roles that suit their strengths
- Leading the Ground Campaign: Lead volunteer teams in core activities, including doorstep canvassing, leafleting, and telephone sessions
- Campaign Delivery: Work with the core team to ensure the local campaign plan is delivered on schedule and with high energy
- Building Capacity: Assist local councillors and candidates in developing their own local volunteer teams and community presence
- Producing Content: Oversee and contribute to the production of high-quality, effective campaign literature
Support Officer – John Milne MP 4 hrs per week
- Attend constituency meetings as appropriate
- Draft responses to constituents
- Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with the data protection legislation
- Organise regular mailings to constituents, including by post and email
- Monitor and update a social media and online presence in the constituency

- Strong Communication: You have the confidence to engage with a wide variety of people and the ability to motivate diverse groups
- Effective Organisation: You are able to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively while supporting volunteers and candidates
- Values Driven: You are sympathetic to Liberal Democrat aims and values and are motivated to win for Horsham and nearby towns and villages
