Horsham elects 16 Liberal Democrat local champions to the new Horsham Parish Council
Horsham Liberal Democrats are proud to announce that all 16 Lib Dem candidates have been elected by the residents of Horsham to the new 18-member Horsham Parish Council.
The newly elected councillors campaigned on protecting our green spaces, continuing to invest in our community and giving Horsham residents a strong voice in local decision-making, as we continue to deliver on the Horsham Lib Dems’ promise of a Better Horsham.
Our councillors will now be tasked with keeping the new council on a firm financial footing, managing any community assets the council decides to take-on, and working alongside the numerous organisations already supporting Horsham to keep our community and town centre thriving.
Newly elected Cllr Martin Boffey (Trafalgar Ward) said:
“This is the beginning of an exciting new journey for Horsham Town, building on the amazing past work of our dedicated neighbourhood councils.
“As a former Chairman of Trafalgar Neighbourhood Council, and now Leader of Horsham District Council, I know the potential of local community government to be a force for change and good, as well as continuity and resilience during this period of greater local government reorganisation.
“This past year, Horsham District Council has prioritised delivering the new Horsham Parish Council that our residents asked for, with over 75% in favour and 88% of respondents believing it would improve local representation. Now, our new councillors will be ensuring we have a Parish Council that listens, works hard and delivers for everyone in Horsham.”
Newly elected Cllr Jon Olson (Chesworth & Oakhill Ward) said:
“Our newly elected group of Lib Dem councillors include those who are experienced neighbourhood, parish, district and county councillors, as well as local champions and campaigners who put themselves forward to represent their neighbours and fellow residents for the first time.
“We also promise to work collaboratively with the remaining newly elected councillors. I believe this mix of councillors provides both the needed competence at leading a council, as well as fresh ideas and enthusiasm to challenge and motivate our new Horsham Parish Council going forward.”
